Maybe I’ve missed something, somewhere…Īny concrete ideas much appreciated. I’ve googled but not come up with anything, including the link he mentioned.

The package versions B2 & B3 certainly look like later versions of A1 & A2 respectively. (B4) iscan-plugin-gt-x770_2.1.2-1_b (I have this)Īs you can see I’m having problems finding packages B2 & B3 on the internet. (B2) iscan-data_1.36.0-1_all.deb (I can’t find this on the internet) (B1) xsltproc_1.1.26-8ubuntu1_b (I have this installed by default in L元.2) The author of the above link finally used the following packages to make the Perfection V500 scanner work in Ubuntu 16.04: The problem is these don’t work for the above scanner in L元.2 (based on Ubuntu 16.04), so I assume though they work for LL2.8 (based on Ubuntu 14.04) they are probably out of date for L元.2. I used the following 3 packages for it to work with iscan, the latter coming installed by default with LL In LL2.8, my Epson Perfection V500 scanner worked perfectly. Drivers for Mac OS X 10.6 or later will also usually work on Mac OS X 10.12 (Sierra).Įpson sold this scanner in some countries as the GT-X770.Torreydale - Yes, at the time of writing this post, I'd already seen the above link you mention – the author of the link had forgotten to install iscan-plugin-gt-x770_2.1.2-1_b - I have this installed, so our problems are a bit different. Note that Epson drivers for Windows Vista or later will usually work on Windows 10. You need to install the Epson driver to use this scanner on Linux. On Mac OS X, this is normally already installed by Software Update, so VueScan should just work. You need to install the Epson driver to use this scanner on Windows and macOS. However, silver-based black/white film doesn't work with infrared cleaning because the silver particles look the same in visible light and infrared light. Infrared cleaning works well with all types of color negative and color slide film, including Kodachrome.

It scans with visible light in the first pass and with infrared light in the second pass. This is similar to (and we think better than) the ICE and FARE algorithms. VueScan's 'Filter | Infrared clean' option can be used to remove dust spots from film scans. This scanner has an infrared lamp for scanning film. VueScan is compatible with the Epson Perfection V500 on Windows, macOS and Linux.
